Are you low income?

Governor Cuomo has launched a new initiative to help you get fresh fruits and vegetables from local farmers markets in your area.  As part of this initiative, low income Seniors can receive booklets with five $4.00 checks which can be used to purchase locally grown fruits and vegetables at local Farmers’ Markets.

To be eligible you must be 60 or older and meet income eligibility guidelines. Each household must affirm that they are low-income based on one of the following criteria:

Gross monthly income at or below 185% of Federal Poverty Guidelines:

  • $1,772 per month for a one-person household

  • $2,392 per month for a two-person household

  • $3,011 per month for a three-person household

Or:

Currently receiving or eligible to receive one of the following benefits: Supplemental Security Income (SSI), public assistance, or Section 8 housing subsidy. Recipients cannot have received FMNP (Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program) checks from any other location.
