How can I find affordable housing?

If your income is low and you need affordable housing, there are two main ways to get help:

1. Subsidized Apartments: The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) helps apartment owners offer cheaper rents to people with low incomes. To apply, you need to contact or visit the management office of the apartment buildings you're interested in. There are also some rental programs run by the state and city of New York.
