A "holdover eviction" is when a landlord wants to:
- end a written lease early
- not renew a lease or
- end a month-to-month rental.
The landlord has to follow rules and notify the tenants. The timing for the eviction process depends on what the landlord is trying to end, and the lease or laws that protect tenants. Either way, the tenant has some time to figure out what to do. If the tenant stays past a deadline, the landlord can start a holdover eviction case in court.
