Who We Are
The Albany County Bar Association (ACBA) co-sponsors the Help Center at the Albany County Family Court. The Help Center is staffed by volunteer attorneys who have been trained in Family Court matters. Help Center attorneys cannot represent litigants in court, but they can help fill out forms and give brief legal advice. A schedule is created monthly, and petitioners can contact Albany County Family Court for current Help Center dates.
ACBA also offers a Lawyer Referral Service that can direct callers to New York Capital Region-area attorneys knowledgeable in the appropriate areas of law for their legal matters. Referrals are free of charge. Callers referred by ACBA will also receive a discounted initial consultation fee of $25.00 for the first half-hour. The Lawyer Referral Service is NOT a pro bono program; we recommend full-price attorneys to people who can afford to pay reasonable fees. The Lawyer Referral Service does not have a directory of sliding-scale or reduced-fee attorneys.
