Who We Are
The New York State Court system has established the Volunteer Attorney Program as a free service designed to ensure that people have access to competent legal information and advice to guide them as they represent themselves. There are also programs that provide limited scope representation in courtrooms. Under the supervision of court staff, volunteer attorneys spend full days or parts of days in a courthouse, and are available to provide limited representation for unrepresented consumer debtors in Civil Court. Volunteer attorneys will represent litigants in vacating default judgments and during settlement negotiations. This program is conducted in partnership with NY Appleseed and the New York County Lawyers Association.
