A Certificate of Relief from Disabilities (CRD) is a way to remove some of the consequences of a criminal conviction. In this case, "disabilities" means not being able to apply for jobs, licenses, public housing and more. If you get the Certificate, you can make these applications just like people without convictions. (But you still have to say that you have a criminal conviction when you fill out a job application.)

You need a separate Certificate for each conviction. If you are not sure about your criminal history visit Criminal Records & Sealing to learn more. If you are going to lose an employment license or public housing because of your conviction, ask for a Certificate at sentencing.

Note: if your conviction was more than 10 years ago, you may be able to ask the Court to seal your records.
