Navigating the legal system without a lawyer is hard. Get started with LiveHelp.
What is LiveHelp?
A free and real-time chat service, staffed in partnership with law schools that helps thousands of users a year find the legal help they need. We train volunteer law students to help New Yorkers understand and solve their civil legal problems.
How can LiveHelp help me?
LiveHelp volunteers can connect you to:
- relevant legal information
- DIY (do it yourself) legal forms and
- contact information for nonprofit (free or low-cost) legal service providers.
LiveHelp volunteers do not provide legal advice. If you need legal advice, search our legal directory for free or low-cost help near you.
How do I use LiveHelp?
Click on the LiveHelp chat link in the upper right corner of the website. Volunteers are usually available to chat with you Monday through Thursday, from 9 am to 9 pm Eastern. We are closed on major holidays.
