If you can't find mental health or substance use disorder providers who take your insurance, your plan may have an "inadequate provider network", which means it does not have enough providers to meet patients' needs.
Signs of an inadequate network include long wait times, providers not taking new patients, outdated directories, only telehealth options available, or providers located too far away.
To try and get the insurance company to make their network better, you can file a complaint with the government. Where you file the complaint will depend on the type of insurance plan you have.
Remember that complaints are about quality issues, while appeals are for when your plan refuses to cover a service.
